Stress-Related Disorders In Teens
The Stress-Related Disorders are Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Acute Stress Disorder. Both disorders include the sufferer having experienced a life-threatening or serious injury-threatening event with resulting feelings of helplessness, horror, or fear. In both disorders the sufferer remains hyper-alert and attempts to avoid activities or places that might stimulate memories of the traumatizing event. Dissociation of some form is often a form of defense against the unwanted feelings or memories.
