Acute Stress Disorder The symptoms of Acute Stress Disorder are similar to PTSD, but are of significantly shorter duration.
- The person has been exposed to a traumatic event that involved the
possibility of death or serious injury and experienced a feeling of
intense helplessness, fear, or horror
- The person suffers from symptoms such as those listed above under PTSD
- The disturbance lasts for at least 2 days but not longer than 4 weeks after the traumatic event
