Conclusion
Life Is A Learning Process - Perfection Is Not A Goal
Life is a series of learning experiences, a process that hopefully lasts a lifetime. An oft-heard statement at Wilderness Quest is that the definition of a perfect person is: A person who is always changing. We continually learn how to be a better person, not only to those around us, but to ourselves. The ultimate goal in a family is for each member to be responsible, taking care of himself or herself and striving to help each other to be the best he or she can be.
We are in this life together. The more we take responsibility for ourselves and allow other family members to be responsible for their lives and their learning experiences, the quicker and more we learn. The more we attempt to take responsibility for, or control another person’s behavior, the more we both experience frustration, misunderstanding, agitation, emotional pain, and often, feelings of abandonment. While not taking care of others has to be tempered by the ages of the children involved, teens should be expected to live lives of responsibility to themselves and others.
